Formed in the spring of 2008, Quoia {Kwoi - a} is a collective of musicians currently residing on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The quintet quickly developed a loyal fan base by playing over 60 shows in their first year. Known for their high-energy live show and uplifting grooves, this genre-hopping group is swiftly attracting new fans of all ages.

2009 was a big year for the young band. They garnered much attention through their hugely popular weekly session at the Canoe Brewpub in Victoria, B.C.. The night quickly grew in popularity and soon consistently packed the 410-person venue to capacity. In March, the group toured to Alberta, highlighted by playing for 12,000 people at Rexall Place (as the featured band for an NLL lacrosse game) and an unplugged show at the Stollery Children's Hospital. Later in the year, Quoia played to another big sporting crowd when they were the featured band at a Vancouver Whitecaps game at Swangard Stadium. Two of Quoia's songs, "Kestaam" and "The Horn", were used in the exciting surf film Around the World in 80 Waves which was distributed throughout North America. They capped it all off on a high note at their 2nd annual Boxing Day show at Sugar Nightclub in Victoria.

In 2010, Quoia plans to build on their 2009 successes, and so far, they are doing just that. Already, they have a tour and multiple festivals lined up, released their first EP "Five Feathers" (available via their website) and are already working on their new album and music video.

Quoia is made up of multi-instrumentalists Alex Nicholls [Mandolin, Violin] and Mike Roma [Banjo, Lap Slide, Guitar], Mike Hann [Guitar, Lead Vox,], Groovy Jeff Scotney [Bass Guitar] and Keith Gallant [Drums, Percussion]. If there's one thing for sure, its that the good times are just getting rolling for these five friends.

"Music so excellent I just happily paid for it! They were amazing on Boxing Day at Sugar! Their music is honest, comforting and true. It's the kind of rock that speaks to me, and the places I've been in life. I relate to so much of it, in my own way I'm sure. That makes it instantly so familiar sounding. The thing I really like about the 5 song EP out right now is, every time I go back to listen to it, I pick out something else musically that I didn't hear before. The band has a knack for layering their sound just right. I'm a big fan!"
